Epitaph

from Whorls by Enda Reilly

/

about

This poem is well known as Yeats' Epitaph. I visited his grave as I was passing by in Sligo last year. Accompaniment here is with acoustic guitar, a second distorted vocal, me whistling, a dobro and a sound effect on the ipad called Sawtooth which I thought was strange enough to work.

lyrics

EPITAPH (From Under Benbulben)
Cast a cold eye
On life, on death.
Horseman, pass by!

Caith súil fhuar
ar an mbeatha, ar an mbás.
A eachaí, gluais leat.
